A Place For You

Relationships are important. God has secured an eternal relationship with us and Him through Jesus. He also puts us in a family – a church family – so that we can live out what it means to belong to Him. Contact us if you would like to build a relationship with those already involved in the ministries below.

For All Ages:

  • Angel Tree: The St. Mark’s Angel Tree provides toys and clothes at Christmas to local families who need a little extra help during the season. Select a tag from the Angel Tree, shop for those items, and return the items to the tree.
  • Eureka Food Pantry Collection: The Central Food Pantry in Eureka is located at the Eureka United Methodist Church. Surrounding churches, schools, and organizations support the Eureka Food Pantry throughout the year with donations.
  • Eureka Flood Relief and Recovery: The Meramec River is located to the east and south of Eureka. Seasonal and unprecedented flooding is an expected part of life in Eureka. As a community, neighbors and friends band together to help protect and provide assistance when the floods occur.
  • Food Baskets: Each year for Easter, the church and school collect canned goods and perishables to deliver to families in need during the Easter season.
  • Family Events: Many fun, family-friendly, Christ-centered events are held throughout the year. The church website has information and sign-ups for these activities.
  • Ministry to Active Military: In 2007, The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod’s Ministry to the Armed Forces launched Operation Barnabas. Through this program, members of the congregation we care, support and reach out to all those in the military who have connections to our congregation.
  • Operation Christmas Child: The Samaritan's Purse Project, Operation Christmas Child, collects shoebox gifts filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items. These boxes are then delivered to children in need around the world to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way.
  • Serving Our Neighbor: For Thanksgiving, members of St. Mark’s serve a Thanksgiving meal to our neighbors at Hilltop Manor Senior Living Center. Volunteers provide, food, fellowship, and entertainment to the residents.

Adults:

  • 242 Small Group Bible Studies: Acts 2:42 says, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” All adults are encouraged to build relationships with others both inside the family and outside the family. One of the ways to do this is through participation in a 242 Group. A 242 Group is a small group (usually 3-12) of people who gather consistently for encouragement, prayer, study, and fun. The relationships that are built through these groups help members navigate through the daily joys and difficulties of life.
  • Bible Studies: Bible studies provide Christians with deep and meaningful perspective as they read and study God's Word together. At St. Mark’s various Bible studies are held on Sunday morning led by both pastors and lay leaders.
  • Book Club: The Novel Seeker's Book Club meets every six weeks. One of the many benefits of being in a book club is that it broadens participants’ reading experiences and people often read books that they may not pick up otherwise. The Novel Seeker’s read an array of genres including fiction, non-fiction, historical non-fiction, auto-biographies, Christian non-fiction, recent best sellers and mysteries. New members are always welcome.
  • Lutheran’s For Life: “Lutherans for Life” exists to equip Lutherans and their neighbors to be Gospel-motivated voices for Life at all stages. This is accomplished through a quarterly journal, “LifeDate,” Life Sunday, speaking and preaching, national and regional conferences, and collections of tangible items.
  • Martha’s Heart: Creation of this group comes from the story in the book of John about Mary and Martha. Both sisters had deep faith, but Martha also had a heart for hospitality and caring for others. St. Mark’s Martha’s Heart provides: hospital visits, pre-post-surgery phone calls, funeral luncheons, and homebound visits.
  • Mission Trips: Adult Mission Trips: St. Mark’s current mission partner is Jesus es la Vida Lutheran Church in La Fragua, Guatemala. The ultimate goal, achieved through semi-yearly trips to the area, is to help this congregation acquire a better footing for reaching into their own community with the message of salvation and to empower them to be able to help their neighbors with their physical needs.
  • MOPS: MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. This group offers support to all mothers of children ages birth through 5-years-old. MOPS meetings are a time for moms to relax and enjoy fellowship with other moms. The meetings typically include a devotion, a craft and a featured speaker. Friendship, relationships, and support help moms who are going through similar experiences raising young children. Childcare is offered through our MOPPETS program so that little ones can have fun while moms enjoy the meeting. In addition to MOPS, St. Mark’s also has a MOM’s Next program (for moms with kids older than preschool!) Both daytime and evening options are available. Register here. [Facebook Link]
  • Music Ministry: The worship experience is more than hearing a message from the pastor or learning a new Scripture. Music allows people to feel emotional connections to God’s Word. Those with vocal or instrumental gifts are encouraged to inquire about participation on the Worship Team.
  • Quilting Club: Women of all ages share their faith, use their gifts, learn more about quilting techniques, teach others how to quilt, serve others, and praise Him.
  • Volunteer/Service Opportunities: Volunteer opportunities are abundant. Whether it is a one-time event or an ongoing commitment, there is a place to serve. Share your interest or passion and a place will be found or made for those gifts.
  • Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside those who are going through life’s most difficult experiences. No one has to go through the grieving process alone. Grief Share seminars and support groups are led by people who have received training and understand the struggles of grief and want to help. Grief Share resources will be available to help in the recovery from loss and will help participants to be able to look forward to rebuilding their lives.
  • Ministry to the Blind: For adults who have visual acuity of 20/200 or greater. Eureka Blind Community Outreach meets once a month and offers adults a time for socialization, resource-sharing, networking, and a free meal. Transportation is provided for those not in a wheelchair. Those in wheelchairs who wish to attend are welcome but need to provide their own transportation.
  • Membership: Twice a year, 6-week classes are held for anyone interested in learning more about the Christian faith from a Lutheran perspective. This class can serve as a membership course for those who desire it.

High School:

  • Wednesday Night Bible Study: This is a great opportunity for teens to learn to love God and each other in a fun environment. We have great leaders who love God and kids as they play games and walk teens through discussions that make a difference in their lives. Members, friends, and adult volunteers are welcome.
  • Youth Mission Trips: St. Mark’s Youth Ministry places a high value on mission trips. These trips have consistently shown to be life-changing events for those who participate. Through these events, teens are given the opportunity to live for days thinking first about the very real needs of others, and they come to appreciate the blessings they often take for granted. The depth of this realization can change how they relate to God and those who are in need. St. Mark's Youth Mission Trips are for all 9th through 12th graders.
  • National Youth Gathering: This trip is for incoming sophomores through first year of college youth. Held every three years since 1980, the LCMS Youth Gathering provides thousands of youths and adults the opportunity to come together as a community of God’s people to be encouraged in their walk with Jesus Christ and learn about the Christian faith and their Lutheran identity. The Gathering is more than the five days of the event. The preparation process for the Gathering brings together young people and supportive adults to encourage each other in their baptismal identity. The Gathering provides young people a vision for the vastness of Christ’s Church and equips them for vocational service as they continue their walk with Jesus. This event is organized by LCMS Youth Ministry in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Middle School:

  • First Communion: Participating in the Lord’s Supper is an important and meaningful part of worship in the Lutheran Church. As a means to provide proper and thorough instruction, a Communion Instruction Seminar is offered by the pastor. The seminar is offered to 6th graders and their parents as well as 7th and 8th graders who have not yet received communion instruction.
  • Confirmation: The Confirmation Ministry of St. Mark’s works to help give 7th and 8th graders what they need to grow in their relationship with Jesus. It is done with a mixture of presentations of the six chief parts of Lutheran doctrine followed by small group discussions during “Learning Events” over 2 years. By-products of these small group discussions are relationships the teens develop with their adult mentors and the other young people in their group. These relationships are encouraged with “Fellowship Events” in which the small group members do fun activities together. These relationships are very important as they are designed to encourage additional spiritual growth even after Confirmation classes are finished.

Children:

  • Club 456: Club 456 is a time to have fun and get to know other students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in a Christian environment. This event is filled with games, snacks, and free time. Members and friends are welcome to attend.
  • Faith Milestones: Infants are baptized into faith. Christian faith life begins with baptism. With this ceremony, a child becomes a part of the Christian community, and the child begins the process of faith development. Baptism is the first of many milestones in a child’s spiritual journey. Age-appropriate Bible presentations are made for students at different stages of their academic development.
  • VBS: Vacation Bible School, is a summer church outreach focused on giving kids a fun and creative place to learn about the Bible and to build relationships with other kids in the area. Designed around a creative theme, students learn about God’s Word, play fun indoor and outdoor games, participate in interactive music time, create awesome crafts, and eat some tasty snacks.
