Confession of Sins & Assurance of Forgiveness
Pastor:  In repentant faith we come before our Lord in confession.
ALL:  Almighty God, we confess to You that we are by nature sinful.  We have sinned by our selfish thoughts, our hurtful words, and our unloving actions.  We have failed to live as Your sons and daughters and to be Your witnesses.  We have been reluctant to do Your will and blind to Your presence and reign in our lives.  For the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, forgive us.  Amen.
Pastor:  As a called and ordained servant of Christ and by His authority, I assure you all your sins are forgiven in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  May the eyes of our hearts be enlightened that we may know the hope to which Jesus has called us.
ALL:  Amen. Thanks be to God!

Songs Of Praise
"Made Me Glad"
"Indescribable"

First Reading
Exodus 20:1-17
1  And God spoke all these words:
2  "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
3  You shall have no other gods before me.
4  You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5  You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
6  but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7  You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
8  Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
9  Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien withinyour gates.
11  For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12  Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
13  You shall not murder.
14  You shall not commit adultery.
15  You shall not steal.
16  You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
17  You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Sermon Scripture Reading
Romans 6:1-11
1  What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
2  By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
3  Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4  We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5  If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.
6  For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--
7  because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
8  Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
9  For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
10  The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
11  In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

In Whom Do We Believe? Explanation to the Second Article of The Apostles Creed
I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent suffering and death, that I may be his own and live under him in his kingdom and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as he is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity.  This is most certainly true.

Prayers of the Day

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.  Amen.
