Opening Prayer

Confession of Sins & Assurance of Forgiveness
Pastor:  Children of God:  Let us ask our Father to forgive us our sins, because Jesus Christ is our Lord, who has died and risen again for us.
ALL:  Lord God, our heavenly Father, we confess to You that we are sinful.  And we have sinned against You in many ways, in our thoughts and in our words, in what we have done, and in what we have failed to do.  Have mercy and forgive us.  Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, help us to obey You, keep us from all evil, and bring us to eternal life.  We ask this through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Pastor:  God has had mercy on us, He loves us , and has given His Son to die for us.  So, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, I assure you all your sins are forgiven, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Peace be with you!
ALL:  Amen.

Songs Of Praise
"God Of All My Days"

First Reading
Romans 13:1-7
1  Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2  Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
3  For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.
4  For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
5  Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.
6  This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing.
7  Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Pledge of Allegiance to the USA
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands; one nation , under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

Pledge of Allegiance to the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ
I pledge allegiance to the cross of my Lord Jesus Christ and to the faith for which it stands; on Savior, eternal, with mercy and grace for all.

Sermon Scripture Reading
1 Corinthians 1:18-25
18  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19  For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."
20  Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
21  For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
22  Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom,
23  but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
24  but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25  For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

Christ The Power to Save!
I Corinthians 1:18-25

Two Approaches for Having a Relationship with God and Being Saved:
Human Wisdom of the Age = Foolishness!
Wise-men Scholars Philosophers
I Corinthians 3:18-20: 18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become "fools so that you may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in Gods sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness; 20 and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.
The Word of the Cross = Gods Power to Change Us and Save Us!
I Corinthians 2:2: 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
Romans 1:16: 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
I Corinthians 1:17: 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
How God Wants Us to View the World!
Those "being Saved!"
Those "perishing!"
John 3:36: 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for Gods wrath remains on them.
Ephesians 2:8-9: 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

"Lead Me To The Rock"

In Whom Do We Believe? The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayers of the Day

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.  Amen.
